I’m continually surprised at the number of cars in the Denver metro area with expired license plates, cracked windshields, or both. It’s far worse then I ever noticed in Las Vegas or anywhere else. Does anyone have an explanation?
There’s likely much more hailstorms in Denver, which accounts for the higher rate of cracked windshields. Hail is big business in CO.
Ever wash your car on a warm day with 40 degree water? It is a good way to ensure a phone call to Glass masters. Weather there has violent swings in temperature. Here, it is stones that do the killing. I grenaded one by washing the car with cold water.
Hail. Why dont more sunroofs shatter, crack or die. Ever get hit by a hail stone?
I understand the causes of a cracked windshield. There haven’t been any hailstorms recently, at least in the 9 months I’ve been here. So if these are hail-related cracks, the owners have been remiss in getting them fixed.
The issue is more the number of cars I see that have obviously had cracked windshields for some time. It’s a noticeable percentage of cars, and not just junkers. Isn’t there a law that requires a non-damaged windshield here? Or is it not enforced?
And that doesn’t explain the multitude of expired tags.
Lack of personal responsibility. That whole seeing thing is overrated.
Cost. General cost of living in the area consumes most of budget so people are letting these things go until they are urgent.
