One week later…
I really had no idea bruises could be so many colors. I have black but no blue, oddly enough. I make up for it in shades of purple, though. I have counted at least five of those. There’s red, of course, and the road rash areas that are healing up nicely. The big surprise is vibrant yellows. On my right chest, I have an almost turmeric-colored area with a purplish center. My right hand was sort of grayish for a while, but it’s mostly back to normal.
The good news is that despite all the chromatic outbreaks, I’m doing pretty well. The bruises and marks might be ugly but they’re mostly pain free. My knee is still quite angry with the world, especially if I walk more than a few hundred feet, but if I rest it, it doesn’t shot too loudly.
I’ve learned from the accident. I’m not happy about it, but I’m not angry. I’ve learned how much I had in life and that I can be taken away. Fortunately, my lessening of ability is going to be temporary and I’m hoping there will be no long-lasting effects. I’ll be back to normal in a few more weeks, and I’m glad for it. I’m even gladder for the reminder.
